Dali Lama v. 14
@ a talk by the Dali Lama in Indianapolis
He’s even more jolly and grandfatherly in person.
High points so far:
1. He stressed the idea of sameness, how all people, religions, and philosophies, etc. are all seeking the same thing
2. Onstage he has a sidekick who helps with the odd English word or to remind him of the schedule
3. He told of his recent surgery: “Scientific proof I have no healing powers”
4. For the D.L., secularism means respecting all religions (as opposed to China’s policy in Tibet)…this is a secularism that doesn’t get talked about much…why fear this kind of secularism?
